Patient Preparation

The patient should arrive in the Gait lab the exact day and time of the arranged appointment. A full 3D gait analysis will take between 2 and 2 ½ hours. The gait analysis is usually done in swim wear because the most body’s joints must be visible.
The patient should be of 1.20m and taller.

I. Patient’s History Completion
While the patient visits the Gait Lab and after the familiarization with the staff and the place, he has to fill in a form with some information about the patient’s history.

II.   Clinical Examination
A detailed physical examination is performed by the laboratory’s physiotherapist that includes measurement of the joint range of motion (angle measurement), strength (Oxford Scale) and muscle tone (Asworth Scale).

III. Gait Analysis
After the clinical examination the electrodes and the reflective markers are applied in the skin surface of the patients’ joints and muscles. Afterwards the patient is asked to walk in order to be seen how the individual joints move, during walking through computer processing.
